Kai needed a lighter stroller for quick trips around the city, and a stroller that can easily collape for the subway (or cab trunk!). Mission accomplished! Found this nice, light stroller — the Maclaren Volo — and it even matched Mommy's dress! Thanks Tita Dee Dee, Tita Lauren and Mateo for your help at BuyBuyBaby!

We spent the day at the Water Taxi Beach in Queens last Saturday to celebrate Auntie Pru's birthday. It was our first time there — it's not actually a real beach like I anticipated, but a man-made beach where they brought in the sand! Verrrry interrrresting…we had a blast! In typical NY weather fashion, it started torrentially raining — we all ran under the tent, and it became a dance rave party, complete with a DJ and disco lights! We were dancing, chowing down on pulled pork, corn, and ribs, and couldn't be happier with our girls. Kai was a big hit with the ladies as well — he met quite a few of them.
Water Taxi BeachKai loves the beach (even if it's not a real beach!) — it's got sand, and he loves it!
Kai loves to share whatever he's playing with. -
I've gotten a lot of slack from people (*cough* Goldie!) about not updating Kai's website recently! My bad. Well, expect more to come, because Kai and Mommy are back in NYC! Woohoo!!! Auntie Liz (and everyone) couldn't be happier.
We had a playdate with Mateo last Sunday at the swimming pool. Kai has NO FEAR in the pool — he was trying to get away from us while we were holding him. Seemed like he wanted to cannon ball right into the pool!
Playdate with Mateo, Goldie, and LaurenKai's little photo shoot – Thanks Tita Dee Dee! Believe it or not, Kai posed himself in this
shot — what a natural! And when asked, "Where's Mama?" he pointed to
Cyn with his eyes closed. -
We are Laker fanatics! We are loving the Lakers in the Playoffs. We've been having quite a few Laker viewing parties. At first Kai was confused at how we were yelling at the TV screen…it actually made him cry. But then he got used to it, and started yelling along with us!
LAKER FANATICS!!! -
Cyn, Paul, and Kai came back to NYC for a 1 week visit, and to attend Joan and Gary's wedding. Of course, we're all excited to have them back. As usual, it was an action-packed week. With the Laker craziness these days, being in the NBA store was like being a kid in a candy store! It was Paul and Kai's first time there and they could've stayed in there forever.

Lolo celebrated his 66th Birthday on May 7th. I flew out to LA to celebrate with him and also celebrate Mother's Day. We threw a fun party for him at home, and many of the Casasolas came over to celebrate his birthday and also his speedy recovery!
With cousin Edward and his wife Rochelle. Pa
wearing his new Laker hat!
Pa showing off his new war wounds — his heart surgery incisions!
He claims he will show this to all his basketball opponents, to intimidate them —
he's actually shown them to a police officer as well, to get out of getting a ticket — haha!
It worked!
Casasola Family portrait — this is just a FRACTION of us!
Cyn and Kai didn't get to fly out, but were there in spirit! -
Sorry we've been MIA for a few weeks. We had to fly out to LA on April 7th to be with Pa (Lolo). He had a massive heart attack, and required quadruple bypass surgery. It was definitely a scary and difficult time for our family, but thank God, he's made a speedy recovery. We would sneak Kai into the ICU so that he could make Lolo happy. We're positive Kai has something to do with healing Lolo. The doctors also credit his speedy recovery to his being in such great shape before the surgery — Pa works out every single day, and watches what he eats. Unfortunately, heart disease is genetic. Luckily, he was out of the hospital in one week, and is now back at home cleaning, gardening, mowing the lawn. We tell him to relax and slow down, but he refuses — he insists that he needs his work-out, and he won't let a little "heart attack" stop him.
We took Lolo out to Malibu Colony to enjoy the sun, have
lunch and relax. Lolo's not in this photo because he was
taking a walk for some exercise!Pa back at home — you would never think he just had
quadruple bypass surgery! He's pretty much back to normal.
Thanks Joel and Jess for visiting — and for all those
that visited him in the hospital and at home! -
Another visit to the Doctor's office for Kai Kai. He's always ALL SMILES — and then, he gets hit with 4 shots. It's so hard to witness — Cyn can't even watch. But when it was all over, we stayed in the office waiting room for 20 more minutes so he could play with all the toys. After that, the pain was forgotten. Kai's in great health — he gained more weight and growing taller — woohoo!
